Foundation Engineering

Our foundation experience is wide ranging. Our project includes high rise buildings, bridges, marine projects, industrial/ commercial buildings and high density residential projects.

A significant number of projects in Port Moresby are supported by our company’s technical, investigative and foundation design expertise.

Rock Mechanics

Rock Mechanics is the study of the mechanical behaviour of rocks and their response to the stress fields of their physical environment.

Our Geotechnical Engineering division can provide a comprehensive evaluation of rock masses which enables the assessments of excavation characteristics, stability of slopes and the effect of the rock mass on structures. 

Soft Clay Engineering

This is an area where we have a particular expertise. We have been involved in major projects including public infrastructure works, industrial developments and marine projects in PNG, Asia and Australia.

Geotechnical challenges involved with projects in weak Alluvial soft environments have included assessment of settlement behaviour, revetment stability, foundation engineering and associated works and materials handling.

Stability Assessment

Ground stability problems with embankment and structures occasionally occur that could be prevented by initial recognition of the problem and appropriate design.

Our Geotechnical Engineering division can provide a comprehensive evaluation of the soil profile, soil strengths and depth of ground water table. Once these have been determined by field explorations and/or field and laboratory testing, the stability of the embankment can be analysed and a factor of safety estimated.

Construction Inspections

Our scope of services does not stop at the presentation of a report. One of the most important services we offer our Clients is a complete construction inspection service to compliment our reports and designs.

Earthworks and Materials

With more than 35 years experience in the areas of earthworks and materials, ACEM can offer technical and practical advice in these areas of civil engineering.

Expertise relates to material sourcing and types, appropriate placement as well as compaction methods and assessment of material properties in relation to their proposed use. Projects ranging in size from small commercial to large industrial development and subdivisions can be accommodated.
